A Transparent Look at How Enchanted Desert Travel Helps Families Plan Vacations

One of the most common questions I get when talking to friends and family about travel planning is:

"How do travel agents get paid?"

It's a fair question.

And honestly, I think the travel industry could do a better job of explaining it.

So I'd like to be completely transparent about how working with Enchanted Desert Travel works, what you can expect from me, and why I decided to become a travel advisor in the first place.

First Things First: You'll Never Wonder Where Your Money Is Going

One of the most important things I want my clients to know is this:

You will pay for your vacation directly through the travel supplier—not through me.

Whether you're booking with:

  • Carnival Cruise Line

  • Royal Caribbean

  • Disney

  • A resort partner

  • Or another travel provider

Your payments go directly to that company.

I never collect your vacation funds personally.

I believe that's important because it provides peace of mind and transparency throughout the booking process.

You'll always know exactly who you're paying and what you're paying for.

What Do I Charge?

My initial consultation service may include a small planning fee depending on the complexity of the trip.

This allows us to discuss:

  • Your travel goals

  • Budget

  • Dates

  • Family needs

  • Cruise and destination options

After that?

For most cruise and vacation bookings, my services are complimentary.

That means I'm available to help with:

  • Research

  • Recommendations

  • Booking guidance

  • Cabin selection

  • Excursion suggestions

  • Planning questions

  • General travel support

without charging ongoing planning fees.

So How Do I Get Paid?

Travel advisors earn commissions from travel suppliers after a trip is booked and completed.

In my case, I work through a host agency called Outside Agents and maintain professional travel advisor certifications and training.

When a family books a qualifying vacation, the supplier pays a commission to the agency.

That commission does not increase the price of your vacation.

The vacation costs the same whether you book it yourself or work with an advisor.

The difference is that when you work with a travel advisor, you gain access to experience, planning assistance, and support throughout the process.

Why I Chose to Become a Travel Advisor

This is the part that's most important to me.

I didn't become a travel advisor because I wanted another job.

I became a travel advisor because I genuinely love travel.

Some of my favorite memories in life happened while traveling with my family.

Growing up, travel was a way for us to spend meaningful time together, explore new places, and create memories that stayed with us long after we returned home.

Today, I'm creating those same experiences with my husband and son.

Whether we're cruising through Alaska, exploring a new port, planning a Disney vacation, or simply spending uninterrupted time together, travel continues to be one of the most important investments we make as a family.

Why Family Travel Matters

When I think back on the vacations I've loved most, I rarely remember the hotel room.

I rarely remember the souvenir.

I rarely remember what I spent.

What I remember are the experiences.

The conversations.

The adventures.

The laughter.

The moments that brought us closer together.

That's what I hope to help other families create.

Not just vacations.

Memories.

What Makes Enchanted Desert Travel Different?

There are plenty of travel websites where you can book a vacation in a few clicks.

What I offer is something different.

I offer the perspective of someone who:

  • Travels with a family

  • Travels on a budget sometimes

  • Splurges when it matters

  • Loves researching destinations

  • Enjoys planning itineraries

  • Understands the realities of traveling with children

Most importantly, I understand that every family is different.

The perfect vacation for one family may not be the perfect vacation for another.

My goal is to help you find the experience that fits your family, your priorities, and your budget.

Final Thoughts

Travel has been one of the greatest gifts in my life.

It's introduced me to incredible places, unforgettable experiences, and some of my favorite family memories.

Becoming a travel advisor gives me the opportunity to share that passion with other families.

If you're thinking about your next cruise, Disney vacation, Alaska adventure, or family getaway, I'd love to help you explore the possibilities.

Because at the end of the day, travel isn't really about ships, resorts, or destinations.

It's about the memories you bring home.
